I’m always looking for new ways to eat crepes. Like… constantly. They’re basically my love language. Sweet or savory, rolled, folded, stacked (check out this mille crepe cake), or stuffed with fruits (like these banana crepes and mango crepes) — I’m in. So when I tell you these Strawberry Hazelnut Crepe Skewers are my current obsession, I’m not exaggerating.

They’re soft, juicy, chocolatey, and served on sticks (which automatically makes them more fun). And the best part? You don’t even have to turn on the oven. Because when it’s 28°C (82°F) and climbing, no one wants to deal with heat — especially not from the kitchen.

This is one of my go-to treats when I need an easy summer dessert that still looks cute on a platter.

Why You’ll Love This Easy Summer Dessert

You know those days when the air is thick and the thought of baking makes you break a sweat? This is the solution. These little skewers are the definition of an easy summer dessert — no baking, minimal prep, and very few dishes.

All you do is roll up some crepes with hazelnut spread (Nutella fans, this is your moment), slice them into bites, and thread them with fresh strawberries. That’s it. No fancy tools, no baking pans, no stress. Just a sweet little treat that feels fancy without actually being fancy.

Perfect for Canada Day, 4th of July, or honestly any BBQ where you want to bring something fun that doesn’t melt in two seconds.

REFRIGERATED

  • Whipped cream, for serving (optional but fun)

  • Hazelnut spread – like Nutella or any chocolate-hazelnut brand you love
  • Mini skewers or cocktail picks – aim for 4–6 inch ones
  • (Optional) Chopped hazelnuts or powdered sugar, for topping

PRODUCE

  • Fresh strawberries – hulled and halved (or left whole if small and bite-sized)

CREPES (store-bought or homemade)

  • About 3 to 4 crepes – soft, thin, and rollable Need a recipe? Here’s my how to make French crepes post — it’s my go-to.

How to Make Strawberry Hazelnut Crepe Skewers

STEP 1. Prep the berries. Wash, hull, and dry the strawberries. Cut larger ones in half — or leave ‘em whole if they’re small and sweet.

STEP 2. Spread & roll. Add a layer of hazelnut spread to each crepe. Don’t go overboard (unless that’s your vibe). Roll up each crepe like a dessert burrito.

STEP 3. Cut each rolled crepe into 1-inch sections — you’ll get little spirals of chocolatey goodness. Alternate strawberries and crepe bites on each skewer. About 3–4 pieces per stick is perfect.

STEP 4. Garnish (optional but worth it). Drizzle more hazelnut spread, sprinkle chopped hazelnuts, or dust with powdered sugar. Add whipped cream on the side if you’re feeling extra.

Tips from a Crepe-Loving Human

  • Slightly chilled crepes are easier to slice neatly. Trust me.
  • Use small-ish skewers or toothpicks — bite-size is key.
  • Want to prep ahead? Make them a few hours in advance and chill.
  • They travel well if you’re headed to a party or picnic.

Make It Your Own (Optional Variations)

  • Swap strawberries for bananas, blueberries, or even mango
  • Use peanut butter, almond butter, or cookie butter (I’m obsessed with Biscoff, just saying)
  • Add marshmallows or crushed graham crackers for a s’mores vibe
  • Skip the hazelnut and go whipped cream + berries for a lighter feel

FAQ – Making These Skewers Work for You

Can I make these the night before?
You can, but fresh is better. The crepes won’t be as soft and the berries start weeping if left too long.

Can I use frozen strawberries?
Nope. They get mushy and weird. Stick to fresh.

Do I need to make crepes from scratch?
Not at all! But if you want to, here’s my go-to French crepe recipe. It’s surprisingly easy — and if you’re a crepe-lover like me, you’ll want it in your back pocket.

The Easy Summer Dessert You’ll Be Making on Repeat

This is one of those recipes that proves a good dessert doesn’t need to be complicated. It’s sweet, a little fancy-looking, and doesn’t make you sweat over a hot oven.

If you need an easy summer dessert for a party, a picnic, or just because it’s Tuesday and you deserve something fun — this is the one.

Now go grab a crepe (or two), roll ‘em up, and stick ‘em with strawberries. Dessert’s ready.
